Always with a pen and any given surface, as a pad, the brand arose as a childhood dream of the Creative Director, to design clothing for the women in her family and her chic best friends, says the travel inspired designer.
Deciding to make the doodles on the back of her Maths book a reality, Olamidé Anike Elegbe enrolled at the prestigious Central St Martin’s College of Art and Design, in London, where she studied Fashion Design and Print.
Over the 5 year Art foundation degree and BA(Hons) Degree period, Olamide experimented with colour, print, textiles, cut and fabrics, fine tuning her craft, in preparation her for the fast pace and late nights working at renowned Fashion houses such as, Alexander McQueen, Richard Nicoll (London), Proenza Schouler and accessories designer Eugenia Kim in New York, just to name a few.
The Creative Director also has an extensive CV which includes numerous Sales experience working at Luxury Retailer Harrods, Knightsbridge Limited London, United Colours of Benetton, Karen Millen, and Blue Inc. Keen on learning about People Management and Finance, her work experience extends to a 4 year stint working as an Executive Assistant at leading "BIG 4' Financial institutions in London, England.
Aniké, the middle name of the ex model turned fashion designer, means ‘what you have, you cherish’ and Midelė is a childhood hybrid nickname of hers derived from her first name and surname, pronounced ‘Mid-Elle’.
At Aniké Midelė Atelier, we construct bespoke pieces that fuse cultures and luscious fabrications, some of which were sourced from the Creative Directors travels around the world. Texture, technique, delicate handcrafting, needlework and embroidery strongly influence the brands Bridal and Special Occasion designs.
Aniké Midelė is for the unconventional and confident individual who loves to stand out from the crowd, each sub section of the brand aims to cater to the various transitional period of a women's life, each piece is timeless and is definitely ‘something to cherish’.
